A fluffy pomegranate dog made for the LoopdeLoop animation challenge for the theme of "Dog".

This was an experiment in simulating hair dynamics in 2D using layers.

The dog’s fur body is composed of 4 main parts : head, neck, stomach and tail, each composed of about another 4 layers of hairs painted using a Photoshop brush.

The hair planes are then individually animated using After Effect’s Bezier Warp tool much like how it’s done in low poly 3D models. Once they are animated together, the keyframes are then offset very slightly (by just about 1 frame) against each other to simulate a more varied movements.

Two additional hand-drawn in-betweens are also added to create the tumble.

Additional shedding hair added using Particular plug-in.
